A Kidnapping Victim in South CA Was Saved Thanks to Find My iPhone App
The incident occurred on November 2 in the 10300 block of Lower Azusa in El Monte shortly before 6 p.m.
According to investigators, Mario Montano arrived "armed with a firearm and distraught" at his girlfriend's workplace.
"The suspect got into an argument with the victim, which escalated when the suspect forced the victim into her vehicle and drove away without permitting the victim to exit," according to the news release.

During the event, the girlfriend contacted a friend, who informed the police and was able to locate the victim and the perpetrator using the Find My iPhone app.
Deputies in a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department helicopter saw the car on the 5 Freeway near the Bandini exit and alerted the California Highway Patrol, who then attempted a traffic stop.
The suspect driver refused to stop over, leading CHP on a 21-mile pursuit that ended when the vehicle was damaged by spike strips that ruptured the tires at the 405 Freeway and Westminster Avenue, police said.
According to the release, Montano was finally arrested on allegations of kidnapping and felony evasion.
