On October 12, decentralized cryptocurrency exchange Uniswap announced the release of a closed beta version of its Android app on the app's development team's blog.
Uniswap was formerly limited to iOS mobile devices and PCs.
Uniswap launches Android wallet beta for Google Play
Uniswap has handled over $1.7 trillion worth of deals since its founding, making it the largest decentralized cryptocurrency exchange in the world by cumulative volume, according to DefiLlama statistics.
Web-based applications have been used for most of its trading.
On April 13, the group did, however, release an iOS mobile app.
It has previously expressed dissatisfaction with Apple for delaying the app's release on the App Store.
Uniswap did not have a specific app for Android smartphones, even after receiving approval from the Store.
The statement from October 12 claims that users would be able to choose coins from several chains without having to transfer networks using the new Android beta software.
Without the user's intervention, it automatically determines which network a coin is on and changes to that network.
As of right now, it works with Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Base, and BNB Chain; further chain compatibility is planned for the future.
