On Sunday, Elon Musk made a modest request on his website X, previously Twitter, to his over 200 million followers: "Please post a bit more positive, beautiful, or informative content on this platform."

Musk received a response from many corners of X that was not quite what he expected. Many messages accused him of being a "hypocrite," The Huffington Post discovered, if not the main source of hate on the platform.

"Too late. You created this cesspool. You own it," quipped another user. "Hypocrite."

Elon's post might be an attempt to turn over a new leaf in the aftermath of the H-1B1 debacle on his website, in which far-right nationalists in President-elect Donald Trump's base criticized him for advocating for laxer immigration policies. 

It would allow talented foreign workers to immigrate to the United States, particularly those working in the technology industry.

To be fair — even if we don't need to be — Musk was going toe-to-toe with outright racists who loathe immigrants more than he does.

"Is there a single person, anywhere on the planet, more lacking in critical self-awareness than this guy?" criticized author and journalist Robert Wright.
