Businesses in South Dallas Can't Access the Internet due to an AT&T Outage
Due to an ongoing phone and internet outage, South Dallas businesses claim they are losing revenue every day.
The lack of AT&T service in their neighborhood since Christmas Day has led them to conclude that there are structural injustices that have long existed in their area of Dallas.
AT&T outage
Fred Conwright, co-owner of Two Podners Restaurant, stated, "We're an essential part of the community." "We deserve better respect than that, for us to have to go through all those channels to get someone to fix it."
With over 40 years of experience, Two Podners has been dishing up fried catfish and BBQ.
The business cannot function without its landline phone service.
"Our phone is just constantly ringing with people calling, wanting to know where we're located and what we're serving," Conwright stated. "Without them, it hurts us."
Conwright claims he hasn't even started to calculate the lost revenue because he has been so preoccupied with finding a way to keep their cash registers operational for credit card payments.
"We had to do cash only for 3 or 4 days until we discovered we could get a hotspot to help run our cash register," he explained.
In this area of South Dallas, other businesses are also suffering from the AT&T outage.
