Google Plans to Produce Pixel Smartphones in India Next Quarter
As part of its plan to sell more than 10 million Pixel phones this year, Google has told suppliers to begin producing its smartphones in India by the earliest possible quarter, according to a recent report in the Nikkei newspaper.
The company said in October of last year that it would begin manufacturing smartphones in India and that its flagship Pixel 8 would be on sale in 2024, with a greater emphasis on a crucial growing region.
According to the Nikkei report, which cited a source with intimate knowledge of the situation, the move will also help Google diversify its supply chain away from China.

The report also stated that the tech giant will set up manufacturing lines for its high-end Pixel 8 Pro smartphones in the upcoming weeks and begin making phones in the April–June quarter.
Despite that, the report did not specify how many phones Google intends to produce in India or if they will be sold domestically or abroad.
A Reuters request for comment was not immediately answered by Google.
